The Greek National Tourism Organisation is kick starting its agent campaign for WTM and 2014 with a one night concert called ‘The Other Side of Greece’ held on 30 October 2013.
The concert which is to be held at The Forum in Kentish Town will celebrate Greek tradition and bring the Greek spirit to London whilst showcasing modern Greek culture to London’s travel agents and giving them the chance to hear about the GNTO’s themes and focuses for 2014. In advance of the concert there will be a two hour networking reception where agents can meet members of the GNTO team.
The multi-performance, multi-channel evening will feature contemporary Greek talent including musician Philippos Pliatsikas, founder of Pyx Lax, one of Greece’s biggest and well known bands, who will form the backbone of the programme. Joining him on stage will be other Greek names, such as Eleonora Zouganeli, Babis Stokas, Georgia Ntagaki and folk artist, Petroloukas Halkias. Also featuring will be musician, Gautier, a prominent name in the alternative music scene in Greece and beyond.
International artist Gordon Gano, lead singer, composer and founding member of the highly influential post-punk band, the Violent Femmes, will also be performing live some of his famous hits that have gained worldwide acclaim, including Blister in the Sun, Kiss Off and Gone Daddy Gone. Also, renowned Greek actor, Theo Alexander, star of US drama series True Blood will join Nantia Spiliotopoulou for recitals of Greek poetry including works by Kavafis and Nobel Prize winners Seferis and Elytis. In addition to musical and other performances the natural beauty of Greece will be brought alive through videos and paintings.
The event kick starts an agent campaign that will see a partnership with OTT (Online Travel Training), the first of its kind for the GNTO and an agent promotion at WTM which will see agents encouraged to visit all the exhibiting partners on the GNTO stand in order to be submitted to a prize draw to win a holiday.
