Singles specialist, Friendship Travel, has launched its winter 2014/15 brochure in a buoyant mood, following record-breaking early summer sales which are currently running 18% up on the same period last year.
The company's managing director, Colum McLornan, said: “This year we have seen a notable increase in demand for four- and five-star properties. To this end, we have expanded our programme of upmarket hotels this summer in Turkey, and have just introduced the new five-star Garcia Hotel in Olu Deniz.
“We have also seen an increase in last-minute bookings, particularly for our house party holidays in Turkey and Greece, where we have exclusive use of ‘small and friendly’ family-owned hotels."
Turning to winter, the company continues to expand its offerings to solo travellers and has introduced special interest breaks such as Bordeaux Wine Weekends.
Highlights of the Bordeaux breaks, which depart in November and March and offer wine-based excursions, include a visit to the Ecole du Vin and a trip to two wine producers in the Medoc region – along with a walking tour of the city. The cost of £595 per person includes Gatwick flights, transfers, five nights' breakfast accommodation and excursions.
Other short-haul options making their debut this winter include Marbella in Spain, Cyprus, Marrakech and the High Atlas mountains and Malta packaged with Gozo.
New long-haul holidays include the Breathless Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic, a luxury all-inclusive property where facilities include a casino, spa, fitness centre and watersports. On offer between November and April, prices start from £1,665 per person including Gatwick flights, transfers and seven nights’ accommodation in a junior suite.
On all holidays guests enjoy sole occupancy of a double or twin room and the services of a travel host.
