This month and next, kids can travel free on Afloat in France, Orient-Express’ luxury fleet of barges.

The fleet offers a unique cruising experience along the canals and rivers of Burgundy, France, with itineraries tailored to suit family’s individual tastes and preferences.

As an example, families wishing to travel the week commencing August 11 can journey from St Léger Sur Dheune to Dijon on luxury barge, Amaryllis. Travelling along the Canal du Centre and River Saône, highlights include dining at the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Montrachet and a visit to Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy.

The barges are also ideal for multi-generational family holidays, with a nanny on hand to look after and entertain the children whilst adults enjoy time out in the evenings or wine-tasting and touring the vineyards throughout the day. Children’s activities include, film nights, go-karting in Chalon sur Saône, visiting water parks in Longecourt and horseback riding through Brazey.

Guests are also equipped with bicycles for their stay, providing the opportunity to travel alongside the barges and explore the vineyards throughout the journey. Two of the barges also feature on-board heated swimming pools.

All individual itinerary requests are adapted by the trained crew, with staff acting as personal guides, imparting their local knowledge to guests.

The special offer applies on Amaryllis, Fleur de Lys or Hirondelle, all offering six-night itineraries exploring Burgundy, for up to two children (aged 11 and under) travelling with two full paying adults.
