Fred.\ has added a new product and brand specialising in polar expeditions to its portfolio.

Fred.\ Expeditions offers a selection of polar expedition cruise product from seven well-known expedition cruise operators to act as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for agents. The operator will be gauging initial feedback from agents and then may add a brochure at a later stage.

The new product also complements the comapny's existing product of river cruise, European city breaks and Christmas Markets, as well as the Jardin Tecina Hotel on La Gomera.

The new brand is currently working with the following expedition operators: G Adventures, Hurtigruten, Lindblad Expeditions, Oceanwide Expeditions, Poseidon Expeditions, Quark Expeditions and Silversea Expeditions. In addition to the cruises themselves, on-shore expedition activities can include camping, fishing, helicopter tours, hiking, mountaineering, kayaking, photography workshops, polar diving, ski-trekking and exploring the coasts via Zodiac. Commission on the cruises themselves and selected on-shore excursions is available to agents.

Geoff Ridgeon, the company's head of cruise, said: “Expedition cruises offer once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences and so are a perfect opportunity for agents to target well-travelled individuals, couples and groups of friends interested in adventure, wildlife, photography and associated niches. We identified a gap in the market for putting all of these niche cruises ‘under one roof’ so that agents can pick up the phone to one of our specialist consultants to make bookings for what can be detailed and complex itineraries.”

As part of helping agents to promote the new brand, the company is designing agent packs to help sell expeditions.

Overall prices start from £4,799 per person for an 11-day, cruise-only ‘Antarctic Classic’ expedition with G Adventures. It includes ten nights’ accommodation in a category three twin cabin with window on a full board basis on MX Expedition.
