The launch of British Airways’ new direct flights to Peru, Chile and Costa Rica, along with the continent’s first luxury overnight train, have helped increase bookings to Latin America over the past year, with booking numbers from Cox & Kings growing by 30% in the past three months compared to the same period last year.

The operator has launched two new escorted tours to the region as well as increasing suggestions for family holidays and private tours.

Peru remains one of the company’s bestselling destinations and the ‘Train to Machu Picchu’ escorted tour is its bestselling escorted tour to South America, with confirmed bookings already up 40% on 2016. The 16-day tour is priced from £2,995 per person and includes an overnight stay on the luxury Belmond Andean Explorer train.

Vessela Baleva, the operator’s product manager for Latin America, said: “Latin America has long been a favourite destination for Cox & Kings clients, and I’m delighted that the new flights have helped to encourage even more people to visit. For 2018 we are introducing new escorted tours that combine countries, allowing people to see as much as possible in one trip: improvements in domestic flight connections have meant that it’s easier to create multi-country itineraries. Our team of experts in the UK travel regularly to the region and there’s very little that they can’t recommend or arrange.”
