Cox & Kings has launched its new Africa brochure for 2014, featuring new escorted tours to West Africa, Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania, plus new suggestions for tailor-made itineraries throughout Africa.
The company reports that passenger numbers to Africa have continued to increase, with a 20% growth this year compared to 2012 and an 50% increase in tailor-made bookings over the same period.
In response to demand, the operator has introduced new tours to Ghana, Gambia and Republic of Congo.
As examples, an 11-day Colours of Ghana escorted tour costs from £2,745 per person and includes meeting local farmers, artisans and chiefs. Each group departure coincides with the Akwisadae festival and there is an optional extension to Togo and Benin.
A new 11-day Rivers of West Africa cruise gives guests the chance to explore the lesser-known fishing villages, national parks, craft markets and historic river towns of Gambia. Prices lead in at £2,595 per person and there is an optional extension to a beach resort hotel in Senegal after the cruise.
The operator is also promoting a 12-day Congo: Rainforest Safari from £6,895 which stays in the exclusive Wilderness Collection camps in the rarely visited Odzala-Kokoua National Park. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the national park for the opportunity to track western lowland gorilla in the Ndzedhi Forest.
