The Adventure Company is offering family safaris in Tanzania that enable children to get hands-on with elephant conservation.
On the ‘Elephants & Spice’ safari, families with children aged seven and older can spot zebra and giraffe on game drives in Saadani National Park, as well as hippos and crocodiles on a river boat safari, while staying in Tent with a View’s tented safari lodge.
There is also the opportunity to learn about wildlife conservation by spending time with experts at an elephant collaring project and during the summer months (July to September), it is possible to witness green turtle hatching at a turtle conservation project.
There is more wildlife viewing on offer with two days at Mikumi National Park, where lions, leopards, buffalo, wildebeest, impala and other antelope can be spotted on game drives, with two days on the island of Zanzibar also offered. Prices for the 12-day itinerary start from £2,754 per child and £2,899 per adult, including flights, transfers, accommodation, game drives and most meals.
