The 2017 China (Hunan) International Tourism Festival has officially begun at the Yangsha Lake International Tourism Resort (Xiangyin County, Hunan Province).

The event kicked off earlier this week with Yang Xian Gao (pictured) vice-director for the Hunan Provincial Tourism Development Commission, welcoming more than two thousand guests from around the world to the opening ceremony.

Over the course of the event, delegates will meet to discuss how to promote ‘all-for-one tourism’ – a regional development initiative in which efforts will be made to improve tourist facilities and services – with the chance for visitors from home and abroad to experience the region’s tourism offerings first hand.

Themed around ‘Splendid Xiaoxiang, Vast Dongting Lake, and, Charming Xiangyin’, a variety of events and activities have been arranged, including: a Qingshan Island Tour; tours to inspect classic travel routes through Hunan; Yangsha Lake motorboat competition; art festivals; Yueyang folk customs and intangible cultural heritages displayed.

Delegates will depart from Xiangyin to enjoy the beauty of Hunan and see Qingshan Island, Exing Mountain, Zuo Zongtang Cultural Park, Donghu Ecological Park, and Guo Chongtao Square, all of which are popular tourist attractions within the region.

In addition, with more than five hundred rivers, wetlands, bird sanctuaries, Zhangjiajie National Park (famously used as a backdrop to the film Avatar) and new hotels such as the Narada Hotel on Junshan Island Park and the International Tourism Resort at Yangsha Lake means there is plenty to see in the region. With reform and developments ongoing in China the destination is opening up to tourism at an ever increasing rate.
