The sailings will operate in destinations well known for their Christmas markets and yuletide traditions. Passengers can see cathedrals and castles along the Rhine, immerse themselves in the cities of Budapest and Vienna on the Danube or sample wine and Portuguese cuisine on the Douro.
Guests on the Christmas departures can enjoy a traditional European festive dinner, while at New Year, the ships provide an ideal vantage point to witness local celebrations and to raise a glass to toast the New Year.
Prices lead in at ?1,395 per person for an eight-day Rhine Discovery cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. The itinerary takes in the Christmas markets along the Rhine and departs on December 20 and 27.
Those with a higher budget can opt for the ten-day Portugal?s River of Gold cruise, which offers two days to explore the capital city of Lisbon before heading to Porto to embark on a journey along the Douro. Prices start from ?2,595 and sailings are on December 19 and 26.
