Launching its successful creative campaign, Ask Guðmundur - the world’s first human search engine earlier this year which saw representatives from each of Iceland’s seven regions offer their insider knowledge to the world via social media, Inspired by Iceland has also reported a continued year-on-year increase in visitor numbers.

Visitor numbers from the UK between January to September 2015 hit 163,606 a 28.7% year-on-year increase.

Instrumental in facilitating this jump has been the launch of new routes to the destination, including British Airways’ new route from Heathrow to Reykjavik for the winter 2015/16 schedule with easyJet increasing its capacity and expanding its Iceland route network by launching a twice-weekly service from Stansted from November 4. It is expected that UK numbers will remain buoyant for the rest of 2015.
