St Petersburg is on most people’s bucket list but until now it’s been expensive and problematic to obtain a visa to visit the former Russian capital, even on a package break. Over the last five years, many UK tourists have used the luxury cruise lines which sail around the Baltic during summer to access the city, which include an overnight stay to explore the area, often with expensive group excursions to add to the cruise price.
BAway is now packaging a new visa-free cruise and stay package from Helsinki to St. Petersburg, using the four-star ferries of St Peterline, with a two-night hotel stay in the city.
The four-night break, including flights from Heathrow, sets sail on the Princess Maria, St.Peterline’s ferry service from Helsinki. Guests spend overnight on the ferry before arriving in St Petersberg the next morning, where they can then board the free shuttle bus into the city arriving at a choice of hotels, using their ferry ticket as a visa to access the city.
Prices start from £479 per person for a four-night stay, which includes two nights on the ferry, buffet dinner with wine/beer on the ferry each night and two nights' four-star accommodation in St Petersburg, based on two sharing, as well as a bus ticket allowing travellers access to transport from the port and around the city for the duration of their stay. Commission to agents is 10%.
