Battered Suitcase is offering a 16-day heritage tour of Japan, which takes in Tokyo, Nikko, Takayama, Kyoto and Nara using the fast bullet trains.

Highlights include a guided tour of Tokyo; a sake brewery; tea ceremony and a visit to the Nikko National Park with its World Heritage Site listed Toshorgu shrine. It also takes in the 2,000 tombs in Kyoto along with the ornamental castle of Nijo dating from 1603, a visit to the Hiroshima peace memorial park and the country’s third largest city, Osaka.
