Bangkok Airways and the Sports Authority of Thailand announced Thailand’s forthcoming Asian Tour Tournament titled “Queen`s Cup Samui Golf Tournament 2009 – Asian Tour” at a press conference at Santiburi Samui Country Club.
The tournament will be played on the 13th to the 16th of August 2009 at Santiburi Samui Country Club and is sanctioned by both the Asian Tour and the Thailand PGA. It is the first ever Queen`s Cup – Asian Tour and will be held in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit`s 77th Birthday.
Mr Thavatong Thanasumitra, Bangkok Airways` Executive Vice President, said, “We are particularly proud to be part of the team that initiated the first international golf tournament in honour of our beloved Queen Sirikit”.
It is hoped the tournament will draw a large number of Golf enthusiasts and stimulate tourism to Koh Samui. The official hotels for the tournament includes Santiburi Resort, Four Seasons, Mercure Samui Buri Resort, Amarin Victoria, Samui Paradise, Chaweng Regent & Melati, Chaba Resort and Samayabura.
