As a part of its latest Discovery programme, Balkan Holidays has walking and golf holidays and two centre breaks to Slovenia this summer.

The operator also has a separate summer 2017 programme featuring four four- and five-star hotels at the Slovenian coastal resort of Portoroz or the ‘Port of Roses’, on the Adriatic.

Two centre holiday options include: ‘Slovenia Lakes and Mountains’, a week’s hiking in Kranjska Gora combined with a stay in one of the luxury spa hotels in Lake Bled or Lake Bohinj; ‘Slovenia Coast and Mountains’, a week in Portoroz, combined with Lake Bled or Kranjska Gora; and ‘Slovenia and Croatia’, one week in the elegant Opatija Riviera, Croatia, combined with a second week in Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj or Kranjska Gora.

Golfers are also catered for with ten courses to choose from in Slovenia. The oldest course – the 18 hole Kings Course, redesigned by Donald Harradine in 1972, is situated at Lake Bled, with the stunning Julian Alps as a backdrop. Other courses are situated nearby in Lipica, famous for its Lipizanner horses stud, and elsewhere in locations boasting spas, Alpine peaks, parks and vineyards.

Chris Rand, sales and marketing manager for the operator, said: “Slovenia is an irresistible combination of mountain views, stunning rivers and lakes, forests and caves, medieval towns and fairytale castles, making it a perfect destination for a special holiday.”

Balkan Holidays is featuring flights with scheduled carriers from Gatwick, Luton, Manchester and Stansted to Ljubljana on selected dates between May and October 2017. As an example of prices, a week at the four-star Hotel Riviera in Portoroz costs from £658 per person, half-board, based on two people sharing a twin room and includes flights and transfers.
