Research from Avis has found that 64% of Europeans are concerned about what they can do to help protect the environment, up from 55% in 2007.

Consumers also have high expectations for companies to behave ethically, with 80% believing that businesses should be penalised for failing to care for the environment. The company also commissioned a separate study which found that 45% of Europeans and specifically 32% of Brits would like to minimise the impact their travel has on the environment. As a result of these research findings, the company has launched an environment information micro-site which offers customers tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as highlight current CarbonNeutral projects.
