Despite the second volcanic ash cloud arising from the Chilean volcano Puyehue-Cordón Caulle, AirAsia X says direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Australia and Christchurch, New Zealand will continue to operate normal flights.

AirAsia Xsays it  is taking all precautions and will monitor the weather through official channels for any changes that may affect the current flights.


Current forecasts expect the ash cloud to drift across south eastern Australia and New Zealand within the next two days.

Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X said, “We will be taking careful steps to monitor this situation closely to ensure the safety of our guests comes first. We will continue regular inspection of all our aircraft at each port to ensure its safety. We urge guests to check our website for the latest updates on the situation. Currently, we are not anticipating any flight cancellations at this stage”.
