Air Mauritius launches A330-900neo aircraft

Air Mauritius has announced the launch of new A330-900neo on direct services from London Heathrow to Mauritius.

The first A330neo landed on April 18, making a short visit to London Heathrow’s Terminal 4 before flying to Mauritius to start scheduled flights to London from April 19.  The A330neo to operate in the Indian Ocean is said to offer 25% advantage in fuel burn and Co2 emissions. From May 3, all flights from London Heathrow to Mauritius will be operated by the A330-900neo.

Of the 288 cabin seats on board, 28 are business class seats featuring an entertainment system, individual 15.4-inch HD LED screen and aisle access. The economy class has 18-inch-wide seats, individual 11.1-inch HD LED screens, and an overall more spacious cabin layout.

Somas Appavou, CEO of the airline, said: “I am delighted to welcome our first Airbus A330neo, another milestone in our fleet modernisation programme.  The addition of two new A330neos to our fleet will bring more flexibility and efficiency to our operations, while supporting our network strategy.  The A330neo offers similar levels of comfort as the A350 XWB, which has received very favourable feedback from our guests.  I strongly believe that with the addition of the A330neo to our fleet, Air Mauritius will further reinforce its focus and emphasis on the customer, who are the very core of our business model.”

Ian Nash, regional manager of UK and Ireland for the airline, added: “We are confident that this new cutting-edge aircraft will provide the perfect start for our passengers to begin their holiday to Mauritius and are proud to be the first operator to introduce this aircraft to the Indian Ocean on our route from the UK.” Air Mauritius is renowned for providing guests and visitors to Mauritius with a welcoming experience that reflects the culture and hospitality of our beautiful island, as soon as they step on-board. The quality of the new on-board product will perfectly complement the warm Mauritian welcome as well as our diverse menu choice and quality service.”

In conjunction with its codeshare partners Air France and KLM, the airline also offers departures from 13 UK and Ireland regional airports connecting to Mauritius via Paris and Amsterdam.
